Prepare For Kambo

Because we want you to get the most benefit from your time with Kambo, we have prepared this page that will highlight how to prepare for a safe, beautiful and effective ceremony. It is very important that you read this section slowly & carefully. We realize this is a lot of information to take in, yet Kambo is not something you walk into willy nilly. After reading this page you will be empowered with the knowledge to have a highly healing kambo session. 


What to Avoid before Kambo:

Please read carefully. These are the main “rules” of Kambo. If you follow the Kambo Rules you will have a great session! Mixing Kambo with any of the following can be extremely dangerous:

  • Immuno-suppressants for autoimmune disorders

  • Slimming or sleeping supplements (including melatonin)

  • No Alcohol/Drugs for 24 hours before and 24 hours after Kambo

  • Do not fast 7 days before or after Kambo

  • Colonics, enemas, liver flushes or any water-based detox should
    be avoided within 3 days either side of taking Kambo

  • Do not do hot yoga, use a sauna or sweat 3 days before and after Kambo 

  • Do not workout before Kambo (Light/Yin Yoga is fine)

  • Stop all supplement use 5 days before and 5 after Kambo. 
    (or check to be sure they are okay with me if you feel you must have them) 


    Next Level Suggestions for the Week Before Kambo

    • Stay hydrated the week leading up to Kambo! Best case scenario get a Myers bag to hydrate at Alive & Well in Austin! Don’t fast! Eat as you normally do. It is suggested to refrain from meat the day before, but not mandatory.  When you refrain from eating meat it gives your body  (specifically your digestive tract ) a break which begins a natural detox process in your system. As Kambo turns on the systems of your body (particularly your immune system) your body will begin to fight off toxins, bacteria, viruses, and much more.  If your body is doing less work (by being vegetarian) for a day or two it will have more energy to work on evacuating mentioned intruders. This is not a mandatory rule! You are free to eat meat if you feel you should.

    • It is suggested to stop all cannabis use 24 hours before and after the ceremony to have clarity of mind.

    • A little coconut water is great to have the day before.  (Especially if you are diabetic)

    • Be kind to your nervous system! Spend more time in nature and less time with your screens if possible. 

    • Try a yoga nidra meditation before bed the night before your Kambo session.

    • For many, Kambo can be both a physical purge and emotional purge. You may find value in journaling or sitting with your current surfaced emotions before the ceremony.  Ideas: You can write about what you are ready to let go of or transform? What are you calling in?  How you want to flip the script of the internal dialogue that is not serving your highest and best.



      Your Kambo Ceremony Packing List

  • Please bring a melon with you! You will thank yourself ! The fruit and the salt will restore your body’s electrolytes balance after Kambo. 

  • If you are currently a diabetic bring coconut water with you. (Brand: Harmless Harvest is best because they don’t heat the coconut water in their processing factory.) This coconut water is to be drunk after your session.

  • Wear loose and comfortable clothing that will provide us easy access to your upper arms or scapula. You can have the Kambo points on your upper arms or legs/ankles. (it’s up to you) Most people do it on their upper arm because it doesn’t scar like it can on the legs. Kambo scars are cool man! Note: If you choose to put the points on your ankle your sit with Kambo will be 20 minutes longer as it will take longer for the serum to circulate.

Right Before Ceremony
These are the three rules for the morning of your Kambo Ceremony
This is one of the most important things!!! Very important for your safety to follow the timing and amounts below! 

  1. The morning of your ceremony...do not eat or drink anything. If you are over the top dehydrated you can drink a tiny sip (no more than ⅛ cup) of water (with pink salt in it) to wet the tongue. You may only have this tiny sip of water once per hour.  No sipping any water 2 hours before the ceremony!!!

  2. No sweating and no strenuous exercise.

  3. Approved pharmaceuticals are okay, but do not take them until 4-8 hours after your session. (ask Jess Lee how many hours) You must check all pharmaceuticals out with Jess Lee to find out if they are contraindicated. 



After the Ceremony
Everyone is different after a Kambo ceremony. Some people desire to have an integration talk and have connection with others. Some people choose to rest. Some people jump up and have tons of energy right away.  Some people need a shoulder to cry on (which is always available). Please don’t feel like you have to stay and talk if you are feeling non-verbal. Check in with your authentic needs and desires. Do you! 

  • Because each Kambo Ceremony is different we suggest that you not plan anything for afterwards. Protect this sacred moment and carve out some space and time to integrate. This Integration time is one of the most important parts of the ceremony. 

  • I highly suggest that you stay in your own energy that night and continue to process and integrate internally. Many people tend to be emotionally sensitive after Kambo. You may notice unprocessed emotions from the past come up after a Kambo session. This is the perfect time to witness these feelings, extract the lessons and gems and let the past go!   • I also advise not making any big decisions right after Kambo… allow yourself some space and time to sit with all the ideas and excitement and processes. Then take action from a grounded place when you are ready. 

  • Remember the rules for the next 24 hours:  No alcohol or drugs

  • Remember the rules for the next 3 days: No saunas, no hot yoga, no intense sweating, no liver flushes, no water based detoxing, no supplements that are detoxifying, no colonics, no enemas.

  • Remember the rules for the next 5 days: Stop supplement use 5 days after.  (or check to be sure they are okay) 

  • Remember the rules for the next 7 days: No fasting!

    In general treat yourself well and enjoy the energy!
